JOB FUNCTION / SUMMARY:

This position is primarily responsible for processing ACH files, completing ACH reclamations, stop payments, affidavit disputes, swapping of ACH items, and charging of accounts for stop payments as well as reconcilement of the ACH system to the FED Statement and Hancock Bank general ledger.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Schedules, collects, and distributes ACH files via the updating of the ACH system. Meets all deadlines, balancing of files and verifying file receipts after each update adhering to the ACH Service Level agreement for this task.
  • Closes out the system for end of day processing which includes verification that all distribution files were create and sent by Fiserv.
  • Repairs and returns ACH items received for posting via these ACH updates within the guidelines established in the NACHA Operating Rules & Guidelines and complies with ACH department and security policies and procedures.
  • Daily processes stop payments, affidavits, and swaps received via e-form in a timely manner and in compliance with the rules of each as described in the NACHA Operating Rules & Guidelines, ACH procedures, and adhering to the ACH Service Level agreement for this task.
  • Occasionally maintains the ACH system to add new origination customers or maintains existing set-ups.
  • Backs-up any of the other desks within the ACH department to provide coverage during illness or vacation of other ACH associate.
  • Through written correspondence with other banks, obtains copies of converted checks per requests from customers or branches. Maintains files on such requests to ensure compliance by other banks within the timeframe set forth in the NACHA Rules Book.
  • Through written correspondence with other banks, obtains copies of authorizations to draft accounts per requests from customers or branches. Maintains files on such requests to ensure compliance by other banks within the timeframe set forth in the NACHA Rules Book. Follows procedure set forth in NACHA when authorization cannot be procured by originating bank on items too old to handle within the ACH system.
  • Provides other customer service or research as requested by phone, fax, or e-mail.
  • Monitors originators' adherence to NACHA rules regarding NOC's and returns by providing daily reports to commercial account ACH originators via Treasury Solution.
  • Performs all other duties and special projects as assigned.
  • Incumbent is required to comply with all applicable federal, state, and local banking and industry related laws and regulations including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act.

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3 to 6 months related experience or training
  • No certification, licensure or registrations are required to successfully apply for this job; however, the following certifications from Hancock Bank's Computer Based Training (CBT) are required, if applicable, once in this position:
  • Certification in Banking Regulations (Reg. B, Reg. CC, Reg. O, Reg. Z)
  • Certification in HMDA Compliance
  • Certification in CRA, RESPA, RMR Regulations
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products such as Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in order to communicate effectively with customers and bank personnel
  • Must be able to establish and maintain a high level of credibility with all levels of internal and external customers
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to formulate sound conclusions and recommend optimal course of action based on analysis

ESSENTIAL MENTAL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines
  • Ability to operate a keyboard if required to perform the essential job functions
  • Ability to read and interpret a document if required to perform the essential job functions
  • Ability to travel if required to perform the essential job functions
  • Ability to lift/move/carry approximately 20 pounds if required to perform the essential job functions. If the employee is unable to lift/move/carry this weight and can be accommodated without causing the department/division an "undue hardship" then the employee must be accommodated; hence omitting lifting/moving/carrying as a physical requirement.
