WHAT YOU'LL DO
As part of the Global Business Intelligence and Analytics team you will pioneer boundaries in technology and innovation. This Senior Director role plays a pivotal role in harnessing the power of data to drive strategic decisions, fostering innovation, and providing powerful insights to steer the company towards success. Positioned at the heart of our global operations, you will lead a dynamic team in the pursuit of analytical excellence, turning complex data into actionable insights that shape BCG's future. This role reports into a member of the Enterprise Service Leadership team, specifically the BI&A Product Portfolio Leader.

This BI&A Senior Product Owner role will spearhead initiatives that redefine industry standards, cultivate a culture of continuous improvement and analytical curiosity, and leverage new technologies to solve real-world challenges. You will work as an integral part of an Agile team-working closely with the business, leadership teams, and cross-functional BI&A teams to define and evolve the vision and roadmap for global analytic products used by senior executives across BCG. You will work closely with the technical delivery teams to build solutions that meet the business needs. As well as playing a key role in change management-working with stakeholders on adoption, enablement, and on-going enhancements.

The BI&A Senior Product Owner must be a leader who is customer-centric and enjoys working with teams to design and deliver exceptional products to customers. This is a highly visible role that requires building partnership and trust among senior cross-functional stakeholders. You will also lead a team and work directly with its members to prioritize and manage what needs to be done and by when, empowering the team to deliver. You will coordinate closely with the Product Portfolio Leader to stay aligned on business priorities and make sure the team is progressing and delivering against them.

Among your responsibilities, you will:

Set the overall product vision and strategy to direct and inform the team's work
  • Define, evolve and drive the roadmap for the global analytics and reporting platform; ensure the products deliver business results and customer value
  • Work closely with the Product Portfolio Leader to understand and drive alignment on business strategy
  • Ensure that products are built in an incremental way, releasing new features that create value for the business
  • Track product performance to inform future work (define measurable KPIs to measure impact)
Act as the key liaison on cross-functional collaboration
  • Partner with leadership from functions outside of BI&A to define and build their analytic roadmap
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration and engagement; identify highest priorities opportunities to support
  • Support activities to define funding and resource requests that enable new analytic product builds
  • Align cross-functional team members on best practices, knowledge sharing; foster community of excellence and innovation
Serve as the voice of customer
  • Engage in continuous discovery, proactively seek feedback from business to understand customer needs
  • Constructively challenge business on assumptions to ensure deeper understanding of requirements, workflows and process to ensure products are fit for purpose
  • Translate the voice and needs of customers into a prioritized list of potential innovations, engaging users as needed
  • Leverage empirical and qualitative data to assess feature performance and inform prioritization
  • Determine tradeoffs involving customer value, cost, and speed to execution
  • Facilitate product demos to empower team members with real-time feedback from customers
Oversee what is delivered by the Squad and when, ensuring to maximize business value to targeted customers
  • Transform objectives into a clear vision for your team to inform the creation and prioritization of the team's work
  • Prioritize work through a well-organized backlog of user stories and clearly communicate what needs to be done and by when
  • Define and clearly communicate acceptance criteria for output based on business & customer needs
Ensure the team is supported to get work done
  • Act as cultural steward, foster innovation and curiosity, ensure voices are heard and team is supported to explore new ideas that can drive value
  • Regularly engage with the Squad to offer feedback on work-in-progress and clarify requirements
  • Engage with Chapter Leads regarding resourcing and functional expertise required in Squad
  • Provide feedback as part of performance management of Squad members and other members of the Product Portfolio

Business and analytic skills
  • Understands the business, decision-making process, workflows, and information needs of business leaders and partners; identifies patterns and can distill insights from information to support decision making
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teams to translate business needs into analytics/reporting requirements, identifies ways to visualize and present information to support executive decisions and workflows
  • Looks for opportunities to enhance or expand relationships with business; acts as a go-to-person for end users to interpret and use information
  • Takes initiative and executes independently; effectively prioritizes business problems based on urgency and relevancy
  • Interacts with Information Architects to understand how data is stored, modeled, and tagged-and can help navigate and guide technical design choices
Communication, interpersonal and teaming skills

YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)
  • Total 12-15+ years' relevant experience in Business Intelligence roles (e.g. Product Owner, Project Manager)
  • Good understanding of technology enabled business transformation, Product Strategy, Digital Transformation, Organizational Transformation
  • Experience managing people at Sr. Manager or Executive level
  • Understanding of agile principles and ways of working
  • Divergent thinker who can converge ideas into tangible products
  • Exceptional communications and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience in consulting is a plus

  • Every member of your Product Portfolio team for which you will be its servant leader
  • Business Leadership and internal customers, translating their voice and needs into user stories and engaging users as needed
  • Product Portfolio Leaders, who will set the vision, roadmap, budget, and priorities & OKRs for the product team and subsequently, for the squads
  • Scrum Masters, which will act as your right hand to remove impediments and will assess you in dealing with the different artifacts and ceremonies
  • Other Product Owners within BCG, to share best practices and ensure alignment between squads and a culture
  • Agile Coaches, with whom you will share passion about Agile ways of working and with whom you will shape promote business agility (within your teams and in the whole company)
