Pay: $20.00 - $35.00 per hour, depending on experience

Segment: Pumps & Motor Technology
Allied Sales & Service is looking for a Millwright to join our team in LaPlace, LA. As a Millwright you will be responsible for the disassembly, cleaning, inspection, and reassembly of industrial pumps and gearboxes. You will also be responsible for training to perform basic machining tasks in the shop.
What You'll Do:
  • Replace defective parts of machine or adjust clearances and alignment of moving parts.
  • Align machines and equipment, using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, and plumb bobs.
  • Connect power unit to machines or steam piping to equipment, and test unit to evaluate its mechanical operation.
  • Assemble and install equipment, using hand tools and power tools.
  • Position steel beams to support bedplates of machines and equipment, using blueprints and schematic drawings, to determine work procedures.
  • Signal crane operator to lower basic assembly units to bedplate, and align unit to centerline.
  • Insert shims, adjust tension on nuts and bolts, or position parts, using hand tools and measuring instruments, to set specified clearances between moving and stationary parts.
  • Move machinery and equipment, using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

What You'll Need:
  • HS Diploma or GED required.
  • 2+ years of experience as a millwright or equivalent, working on industrial pumps.
  • Experience operating manual machines (i.e. lathes, mills) preferred but not required.
  • Ability to test/troubleshoot industrial equipment to determine cause of operating error and next steps to repair.
  • Experience performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
  • Basic computer skills, such as experience with Microsoft Office Suite, preferred but not required.
