Think super-sized Lego building...Then picture moving up to 2,000 Lego barges in and out of the fleet monthly. You have now entered the world of Fleet Dispatch! This is a fast paced, high-impact, time sensitive environment.

Ingram Barge Company, the leading carrier on America's inland waterways, is seeking a highly motivated individual to join the team as a Fleet Dispatch Manager in the Reserve, LA office. You will be managing the fleet dispatch function and staff in the daily duties of safely and efficiently designing and expediting tows, coordinating the movement of barges in the fleet for cleaning, dry-docking and repair, anchorage activity, shifting to elevators and other facilities.

What you'll be doing:

  • Manage and train the fleet dispatchers and other direct reports.
  • Coordination of the fleets and movement of barges in and out of the fleets.
  • UTM management and application relative to the fleet activity.
  • Facility Security Officer, duties as described in each specific fleet security plan.
  • Manage fleet barge capacity.
  • Budget planning for fleet expenditures.
  • Customer billing in FMS (Fleet Management Software).
  • Conducting customer and vendor visits
  • Completing performance reviews for your reporting associates
Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong organizational, logistics and analytical skills, above average communication, and collaborative skills.
  • 6-7 years of experience required
  • Manage 4-6 associates, from a Dispatcher I level to a Senior Dispatcher level.
  • Planning for 125-250 boats in an out of the fleets per month, coordinating 5 to 9 tugs, and 2 to 4 shuttle boats, operating in the fleets, managing 150-400 barges in the fleet on any given day, and monthly processing 1000-5000 barges through the fleet.
  • Good communication skills are vital for this position as they converse with many different individuals and departments daily.
  • Must be detail oriented with strong organizational, logistical, and analytical skills along with the ability to decide quickly and move on to the next item on the agenda.
  • A working knowledge of Windows, Excel, ABS, and basic computer skills are necessary.
