Ingram Barge Company is looking for Pilots to operate on our vessels in the Gulf area. This position requires more than safely steering and operating our vessels. We're looking for strong, experienced Pilots who drive a high-performance culture onboard the vessel.

Job Description
  • Vessel compliance with USCG and environmental laws and regulations
  • Safety of the crew, vessel, environment and towing operations through use of Ingram's safety systems, policies and the "rules of the road"
  • Supervision of the Mate and Deckhands in consultation with the Captain and Operations/HR
  • Practicing good seamanship and boat handling skills
  • Assisting with performance evaluations of crew members
  • Delegating vessel responsibilities, duties, and tasksconsidering crew members experience andabilities
  • Assisting with safety meetings and drills
  • Making locks and bridges
  • Effectively steering tow up and down river
  • Assisting with training of deck crew
  • Basic critical thinking and decision making skills to tow building and locking
  • Assisting with administrative duties
  • Performing other job duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Ability to navigate the river in which working on
  • Proven leadership abilities
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Encouragement of camaraderie among the crew
  • Ability to interact and communicate at all levels within the organization
  • Intermediate skills with MS Outlook and Internet Explorer
  • Safe navigation and operation of vessel
  • Basic critical thinking and decision making skills
  • Ability to perform in a fast paced environment
  • Quick but logical responses to unexpected circumstances and safety concerns
  • Working knowledge of how to handle a large tow
  • Have 4+ years of experience
  • Possess a USCG Masters of Towing license
  • Possess a FCC Radio Operator license
  • Possess a Western Rivers License
  • Possess an Inland Rivers License
  • Hold a Radar endorsement
  • Be CPR, First Aid, AED Certified or willing to obtain certifications upon hire
  • Possess a valid Driver's License
  • Possess or be able to obtain a valid TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential)
  • Pass a post-offer process if an offer is made (background check, drug screen, physical)
  • Must be able to read and write the English language in order to comply with USCG regulatory requirements
