Job Description

Reedsburg Area Medical Center is recruiting a full-time Pediatric Occupational Therapist to join our growing team!

Schedule: Monday - Friday

Hours: Flexible

Position Summary:

The Pediatric Occupational Therapist is a specially trained member of the Rehab team that provides evaluation and treatment to children with physical, developmental and behavioral disabilities in an Outpatient setting.

Job Relationships:

Reports to Director of Rehabilitation Services. Supervises: OT/OTA students. Collaborates with all members of the healthcare team, physicians and support staff. Consultation: Physicians, agencies serving/supporting children and families.

Primary Customer Served:

  • Infant (31 days - 1 year)
  • Pediatric (1 - 12 years)
  • Adolescent (13 - 18 years)
  • Young Adult (19-21)
  • Family/Visitors
  • Physicians
  • Community Agencies

Education and Training Required:

  • Bachelor degree or beyond.
  • Completion of an accredited Occupational Therapy Program, certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy, Inc.
  • Licensure in the State of Wisconsin.

Experience:

One to two years' experience with pediatrics preferred.

Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Entry level or advanced level clinical skills
  • NDT or SI background preferred.
  • Ability to create and work in a cooperative teamwork
    environment.
  • Possesses creativity
  • Patience working with children and families
  • Ability to change approach based on child's response
  • CPR certification
  • Basic computer skills necessary.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.

Physical Requirements:

Physical Demands:

  • Frequently stand and walk.
  • Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds while transferring and positioning patients, performing patient care and maneuvering equipment.
  • Occasionally push/pull with up to 50 pounds of force for transporting patients and maneuvering equipment.
  • Occasionally carry up to 50 pounds while performing patient care.
  • Occasionally climb stairs/ladders/ramps while performing patient care/instruction.
  • Occasionally balance yourself and/or patients while performing patient care.
  • Occasionally bend to floor, squat, crouch, reach overhead, handle objects including controls, levers, knobs, and switches while performing patient care.
  • Occasionally feel, finger, maintain sustained grip and smell while performing patient assessment and care.

Sight:

  • Occasionally use far vision, depth perception, colors and accommodation for patient assessment/care and monitoring treatment sessions.
  • Frequently use near sighted visual acuity for reading, writing, using equipment with gauges/thermometers, etc. and patient assessment.

Cognition/Communication:

  • Frequently and effectively communicate with physicians, patients, family members, other staff and outside vendors/customers using hearing and writing skills.
  • Constantly and effectively communicate with physicians, patients, family members, other staff and outside vendors/customers using comprehensive speech.
  • Occasionally use math skills for computation of patient tests, budge and percentages.
  • Occasionally be able to communicate effectively while using telephone skills and whispering.

Environmental Conditions:

  • Constant indoor, patient environment.

Potential Hazards:

  • Occasional exposure to infectious blood/body fluids and disease requiring isolation, red infectious waste, toxic/caustic chemical hazards and hazardous waste, needles/syringes/sharps, potential physical harm and moving mechanical parts while performing patient care.
